Who?
Kathy “Kave” Findlay is the owner of the Kave and Maine native. Her presence in the New England hardcore scene is often referred to as “Hardcore Mom”.
What?
The Kave was a DIY hardcore/heavy metal music venue in rural Maine from 2001-2016 that an hosted array of acts from all over the world.
Where?
5 hours North of Boston, Bucksport, ME is a coastal town located in a rural area that is often referred to as “Downeast.”
Downeast Hardcore: Stories from the Kave is a documentary that tells the story of Kathy Findlay and a music venue built in her home in Bucksport, Maine that attracted dozens of national hardcore and metal bands. The location also served a much bigger purpose of providing a safe space for teens and young adults to be themselves, listen to music they enjoy, all while surrounded by others who share the same interest in a rural community. The Kave operated for almost 20 years before it closed its doors in 2016.
How can you help support the film?
With this fundraiser, we’re asking for your help in tackling our production costs which include hiring local talent such as a camera operators, sound engineers and graphic designers as well as the cost of post production. Costs that include music licensing, sound mixing and color design. Every single dollar raised here will go directly into the making of the film!
– Any donation over $100 will get a Special Thanks in the end credits of the film,
– Any donation $500-$1500 will get an Associate Producer credit in the end credits of the film.
– Any donation $1500 or more will get an Executive Producer credit on the film.
